We built our production workflow around small-batch flexibility from day one — separate sample line, modular pattern blocks, and a dedicated 30-piece order queue. Most large factories optimize for 500+ piece runs and lose money on smaller orders, which is why they refuse them.

Our samples come off the same production line, with the same operators, using the same fabrics and components as bulk orders. We document the entire sample build with photos and video, sent to your WhatsApp before shipping.

For 10-29 pieces we can negotiate — pricing is per-unit higher (typically +30-50%) and lead time slightly longer. WhatsApp us for case-by-case quotes.

Yes within reason. A typical 30-piece order might be 1 colorway × 5 sizes (6 pcs each). For multiple colors, MOQ is generally 30 pcs per colorway.

What Counts As Low MOQ In Jacket Manufacturing

In outerwear a standard factory MOQ is 500 to 1,000 pieces per style per colourway. Anything at or under 100 pieces per style is genuinely low MOQ; anything under 50 is rare for a jacket, because outerwear needs pattern grading, multiple panels and specialised machines that a small run cannot amortise. Our MOQ is 30 pieces per style, plus 1-piece sampling at $100 refunded against the bulk order. When you compare factories, check whether a stated MOQ is per style or per order, and whether each colourway counts separately — that detail turns a 100-piece MOQ into an effective 400 pieces across four colours.

Why Most Jacket Factories Quote 500 To 1,000 Pieces

The MOQ is not arbitrary. Technical fabric is sold by the roll, and a roll of laminated softshell or waterproof membrane typically runs several hundred metres, so a factory buying half a roll for your order eats the remainder. On top of that, every style needs pattern making, marker making, a machine changeover and a line setup, and those hours are the same whether the run is 30 pieces or 3,000. A factory that accepts 30 pieces has chosen to absorb that setup across many small customers instead of a few large ones. That is a deliberate business model, and it is ours.

Can You Get A Jacket Under $40 Per Unit At Low MOQ

Sometimes, and it depends entirely on the build. A single-layer windbreaker or a basic softshell in stock colours can land under that figure at low volume. A 3-layer hardshell with a 15,000mm membrane, fully taped seams and genuine YKK waterproof zippers cannot, at any quantity, and a quote that says otherwise has quietly substituted the membrane, the seam sealing or the zippers. Fix the specification first — layer count, waterproof rating, seam sealing, zipper brand — then ask three factories to quote the same sheet. Price differences only mean something when the build is identical.

Sampling Before You Commit To Bulk

Low MOQ is only useful if sampling is also low risk. We produce a 1-piece sample for $100, refunded against your bulk order, so validating fit, fabric hand and logo execution costs a sample fee rather than a production run. Wear-test it in the conditions your customers will actually use it in before approving — most fit and durability problems surface in the first week of real wear and never in a photo review. Once approved, keep the signed sample as the quality reference for every later run.

Combining Styles To Make A Small Run Work

If you want more than one style but cannot reach volume on any of them, keep the fabric and colourway constant and vary the pattern. Ordering 30 softshell jackets and 30 softshell vests in the same 320gsm face fabric and the same colour means one fabric purchase and one dye lot across both, which keeps your per-unit price closer to a larger run and guarantees the two garments match when merchandised together. The same logic applies to a jacket and matching pant for team and school programs. Standard lead time is 4 weeks (25-35 days after deposit); rush runs up to 1,000 pieces can ship in 2 weeks with a 25% expedite fee.
